Bills Private VIP Tour

Ultimate not good enough for you? You require Bill’s undivided attention? You think you’re some kind of demigod or something? Good. Bill feels the same way. He calls it modestly arrogant. In a way it is simple. All guests are equal, but some guests are more equal than others. Particularly the ones who have deep pockets. As you can tell, Bill doesn’t beat around the bush. In the Netherland we call it Dutch directness. To book a private bike tour with Bill check the calendar for availability, click on the tour and date of your choice and select ‘private tour’.

In addition to regular private tours, Bill also offers private VIP tours. When you contract Bill for a private VIP tour no demand is too crazy. You can decide whether you prefer to tour by bike, by boat or on foot. If Bill is available, you can decide how long you would like to go, where to go and what you want to see. In case you are not sure, you can either call Bill or ask Bill to call you and together you will make the itinerary of your trip in Amsterdam.

Whether you want to visit the red light district, the Anna Frank House, do a food tour on foot or by bike, bake your own edibles, take a bike ride to Zaanse Schans or Volendam/Marken, learn how to make stamppot (Dutch mash pot), do a coffeeshop tour, take a champagne boat ride (or beer, pizza, bitterballen or smoke lounge boat tour) or visit the Heinenken Experience, almost nothing is too crazy for Bill.

Although Bill considers himself a demigod, even demigods have their specialties. Sometimes Bill meets other demigods who have created unique and authentic experiences that live up to Bill’s standards. When this is the case Bill might suggest involving one of these other demigods Bill considers his friends to make your experience the best you can possibly imagine.

Whether you prefer to do indoor activities (such as the Heineken Experience, the Anna Frank House or baking your own edibles; or outdoor activities such as a bike tour or walking tour, Bill is flexible. Bill can switch from your friend for a day to an academic historian to a stand-up storyteller in an instant. In most private VIP tours you book with Bill, Bill will be your guide. If Bill feels another demigod is better capable of catering to your desires, Bill will suggest the alternative to you. What will never happen is that you expect Bill and you get someone else by surprise.

If you are looking for a service oriented host and a friend for a day (rather than a typical self indulgent guide), Bill is your man!

What makes Bill’s Bike Tour so awesome?

Hi Friends! A very warm welcome. During the ultimate Amsterdam biking experience of Dutch culture and identity you will see parts of Amsterdam most tourists never get to see! We will stay outside the city center and explore the city from a local perspective. On Bill’s Bike Tour you will hardly interact with other traffic as Bill has selected a beautiful and safe route through the back streets of Amsterdam.

Bill lives right around the corner from the meeting point and he will tell you everything about his neighborhood. Before setting off we will take 5 minutes to make sure everyone is comfortable on their bike and Bill will explain basic cycling rules. From then on it is nonstop fun, cruising on a typical Dutch bike!

Along the route we will make frequent stops and you will see a windmill, explore a beautiful park and an untouched canal district without the crazy tourist vibe of the city center. Bill’s Bike Tour even takes a ferry over the IJ river and head to an abandoned shipping wharf where we’ll see loads of street art, graffiti and pop-up art from local artists.

Crossing back over the river IJ we’ll visit a neighborhood famous for its architectural style called The Amsterdam School, which greatly inspired Gaudí. Finally, we will bike back into Westerpark where we will conclude Bill’s Bike Tour with a refreshing drink, make new friends and share stories!

Hop on a bike!

Where is the meeting point?

Bill’s Bike Tour starts at the bike rack alongside the canal, next to the terrace of cafe Pacific Parc. The address is Polonceaukade 23, 1014 DA Amsterdam. If you don’t see Bill at the bike rack when you arrive please wait patiently until the tour is scheduled to start. Bill will meet you there!

Is Bill’s Bike Tour safe? Biking in Amsterdam seems daunting…

When you’ve done a boat tour, checked out the Red Light District, visited the Van Gogh museum and maybe even smoked some marijuana, you start to wonder what else Amsterdam has to offer. You see plenty of tourists on rental bikes, but few seem to enjoy cycling and some even look downright scared.

Do you want to experience what it’s like to be Dutch, navigating your way through Amsterdam on a bike, all the while feeling relaxed and safe? This is your lucky day! You found Bill’s Bike Tour: a unique and safe bike tour, which takes place entirely outside the hectic city center. We have carefully selected a safe route through pretty parks, quiet precincts and beautiful back streets. On Bill’s 3 hour bike tour you will hardly interact with motorized traffic.

Who is my guide?

All of Bill’s Bike Tours come under the guided supervision of Bill himself. Bill’s Bike Tour is a once in a lifetime experience that is fundamentally different from all other bike tours in Amsterdam! We will avoid crowded, touristy places that you likely already visited anyway. Most importantly, Bill is not a typical tour guide or historian. Instead Bill is a storyteller, entertainer and your friend for a day. In the end, Bill cares about one thing only: that you are enjoying yourself and that you are having a good time!

Why should I book Bill’s tour?

During Bill’s amazing 3 hour bike tour, you will see a side of Amsterdam you cannot find in the Lonely Planet or other travel guides. A side of Amsterdam big tour operators won’t cover, because they cannot turn it into a money machine. Bill is an avid traveler, so he knows what it is like to get stuck in tourist traps and feeling like a number.

As it sucks to get stuck in a tourist trap, Bill has created exactly the opposite: an authentic, unique, quintessential experience of Dutch culture and identity. Simply put, we will cycle to and explore places and communities where Amsterdam locals meet, eat, drink, create and socialize. All combined with a balanced mix of art, architecture, humor and socio-cultural and historical context. Not only will you learn what it is like to be Dutch, on Bill’s quintessential bike tour you will experience what it’s actually like to live as a local in Amsterdam!

Will I get tired? Three hours sounds like running a marathon…

During Bill’s unique 3 hour bike tour, we will cover roughly 10 miles or 15 kilometers with plenty of stops and explanation from your expert friend and local hero Bill. That means the tour is slow paced and fit for all ages. Some prior biking experience is required. The minimum age is 12, unless you booked a private tour or family tour. Our smallest bikes fit children aged 8 and above (for private tours).

How about equipment?

Bike rental is included in Bill’s Bike Tour and we have bikes in all sizes. For additional equipment we cooperate with a bike shop close to the meeting point, called David Goliath Bikes. In case you have any special requests (e.g. electric bike, cargo bike, helmet, child seat etc.) they sell and rent out additional equipment. You can reach them on +31 202 335 118 or info@davidgoliathbikes.com for any questions or reservations. Please notify us in advance if you intend to use additional equipment.

Why can I only get a cheaper hourly price on the longest tour?

Bill would love to offer all tours for €16 per hour. Unfortunately there are certain fixed costs for each tour, such as tourist tax and bike rental/maintenance. The price of Bill’s Bike Tour also depends on high vs. low season and week days vs. weekend. Included in all Bill’s prices are:

  • Tourist tax (€1.50)
  • Bike rental 1 hour €7.50
  • Bike rental 2 hours €10
  • Bike rental 3 hours €12.50
  • 20% reseller commission
  • 21% VAT
  • 38% income tax

Bill receives between 5 and 7 euro per hour per booking. Bill is also the guy who wrote this text, who answers your phone calls and emails and who uploads the photos after the tour. If you like Bill and you had a great time on Bill’s Bike Tour, giving Bill a small tip will make his day!

Hop on now, before we’re sold out!
